George A. David OBE CMG MFR

George A. David was born in Petra in 1937. He graduated from Edinburgh University in 1959 (Bachelor of Commerce). Today, after more than sixty years of a success in the world of business and philanthropy, he is Chairman emeritus of Coca Cola HBC AG as well as Chairman of the A. G. Leventis Foundation’s Greek Committee. He holds the position of Chairman of the Center for Asia Minor Studies and is a Benefactor and Regent of his Alma Mater, the University of Edinburgh. A member of the Honorary Board of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ΕLIAMEP) and of Leadership 100, he is a founding member of The Hellenic Initiative (est. 2012) and Cyprus Seeds (est. 2018). In recognition of contribution to society, George David has received numerous honours and titles including the Order of the British Empire (OBE), Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) and Member of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (MFR). He has served as Vice Chairman of Council of the University of Cyprus from 2016 to 2018, and as Chairman of the Council from 2019 to 2021 and has also received honorary doctorates from the Faculty of Philology (School of Philosophy) of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics. He is also Archon Maistor of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. George A. David is married, with three children and six grandchildren.
