Precious Plastic Lab: Educational workshops for children, for the upcycling of plastic waste into useful products, Athens Makerspace, Greece

This project of Athens Makerspace was carried out within the programme Points of Support and was funded by the A. G. Leventis Foundation. The aim of the project was to increase environmental awareness and technological familiarization for children, through educational labs for the upcycling of plastic waste into useful products. The young participants showed special interest in the entirety of the lab, from the collection and separation of the plastic to the final creation. 21 three-hour workshops were successfully held for 350 children in three different schools (45th Primary School of Athens, 51st Primary School of Athens, 6th Primary School of Paleo Faliro) and the children showed interest in recycling and its implementation in their school. The children's creations were exhibited and a video was created with shots from the workshops, which was shown at the Athens Science Festival in April 2019.
