Earth Optimism Summit, Cambridge Conservation Initiative

More than 1,500 people attended Earth Optimism Day hosted by the Cambridge Conservation Initiative (CCI), which focuses on strategic partnerships between leaders in research, education, policy and practice to transform the global understanding and conservation of biodiversity. With the support of the A. G. Leventis Foundation, the CCI organised a celebration of positive conservation stories on topics ranging from conserving species to how the power of plants can save the planet, with Dr Jane Goodall and Sir David Attenborough among the speakers. At the same time, a Solutions Fair offered more than 30 local, national and international organisations the opportunity to showcase practical, everyday ways that people can make a real difference for the planet, securing a sustainable future for biodiversity and society. Moving and inspiring, Earth Optimism Day empowered visitors to remain hopeful and get involved in the fight to save the planet. Building on this success, the CCI is planning future Earth Optimism events and is working with partners around the world to deliver events in locations including Cambridge, China, India and Kenya.
