Breast cancer screening and medical intervention programmes, E.M.E.I.S.
A non-profit organisation run exclusively by volunteer doctors, the Scientific Society of Mastology – Treatment and Support (Ε.Μ.Ε.Ι.S.) offers free medical care and treatment to women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. The organisation aims to help women who do not have access to medical insurance, because they are financially and/or socially vulnerable. With the support of the A. G. Leventis Foundation, the organisation provided primary, secondary and tertiary medical care to 37 women, assisting patients throughout the medical process, including diagnostic tests, preoperative procedures, surgery, post-operative care, treatment and follow-up check-ups.
