Every Child is Unique – Children at Risk programme, Network for Children’s Rights, Athens

Operated by the Network for Children’s Rights, this programme, aiming to support particularly vulnerable children and their families, reached a total of 55 Greek and refugee/immigrant families in 2014- 2015, representing 17 different ethnic origins. The support provided, based on an individualized support plan for each child and family, is both material (food, clothing, hygiene items) and immaterial, offering services such as psychological and educational support, legal assistance, medical care, and precedence to participate in creative workshops and activities, among others. The initial evaluation of families, prior to their acceptance in the programme, is based on a range of criteria, while the selection process involves a mixed board of members-volunteers of the Network alongside teachers from schools of the Stathmos Larissis area. Constant communication between teachers and the Network allow them to monitor the children’s progress at regular intervals and to respond immediately whenever there is an urgent need, creating an additional safety net for the well-being of the children of the programme.
