Research scholarships, World Olive Center for Health

The World Olive Center for Health is a non-profit organization which researches and promotes the health benefits associated with olive oil consumption, providing certification for olive oil with a health claim, offering training to olive-oil producers and undertaking targeted research on the emergence of the protective and therapeutic properties of all olive products, with the ultimate aim of supporting qualitative growth in this field. As part of its work, WOCH also focuses on the publication of results of the clinical trials underlining the health benefits of high phenolic olive oils including the effects of a long-term diet of oleocanthal-rich olive oil in protecting against Alzheimer's disease. Through the support of the A. G. Leventis Foundation, WOCH has furthered research on subjects such as the discovery of the active form of oleocanthal in reaching the human brain and research on the animal experimental model of multiple sclerosis and research on the possible benefits of high phenolic olive oil in the treatment the disease in humans.
