Greek Archaeological Committee, United Kingdom

Since 2004, the A. G. Leventis Foundation has offered an annual scholarship to the Greek Archaeological Committee UK (GACUK) in memory of Deno Leventis. GACUK was launched in London by Matti Egon in the autumn of 1986, on the 150th anniversary of the Archaeological Society of Athens, with the enthusiastic support of prominent members of the community, including Deno and Edmée Leventis as founding members. GACUK serves as a link between Greek and British academia and promotes Hellenic archaeology by offering two lectures annually in London, delivered by eminent archaeologists on their recent discoveries. It also offers the opportunity to Greek and Cypriot-Greek First-class Honours graduates of limited means to pursue postgraduate or research studies in Hellenic archaeology in the United Kingdom, by offering them scholarships. The A. G. Leventis Foundation Scholarship has been one of the mainstays of GACUK, with all recipients of the scholarship who have already been awarded their doctorates flourishing in various posts in their academic fields in the UK, Cyprus, Greece, Republic of Ireland and France.
