Scholarship for MA in Classical Studies, The Open University, UK

The A. G. Leventis Foundation has supported The Open University’s (OU) vision of improving Classical Studies teaching in secondary schools by funding scholarships for teachers to obtain an MA in Classical Studies. The OU’s high-quality teaching materials and distance learning model are perfectly suited to fit the demands of busy, full-time employment, such as teaching, allowing scholarship recipients to pursue their studies alongside work and enjoy numerous benefits from their MA studies. The MA course offered participants a deeper understanding of the subject matter, empowering them with greater confidence to teach the Classics in an inspiring, engaging and enjoyable way. This extends the benefits of the MA course, indirectly, to the school pupils, developing their English and cultural literacy skills and promoting clarity of thought, attention to detail and the ability to argue a case – skills that are valued both in further (university) study and the workplace.
